Annual Summer Pre-Engineering Camp
This annual summer program, introduces students to the basics of Computer Aided Design (CAD), using PRO/Engineer Wildfire software provided by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). Students learn the basics of 3D Solid Modeling and have the chance to create products and experience some of the same challenges that product designers do in the real world.
The highlight of the camp is the CO2 Dragster Project, where each student starts with the same materials and then follows a set of standards to design a dragster. Each dragster is intended to be produced from a block of balsa wood, however our program is limited to nly the computer design. The students do get the chance upon completion of the dragster lesson, to make their own custom design changes and coloring options for their dragster. Below is an example of some of the work created by 2007 and 2008 students.
